Beyond the Scale: Could Non-Weight Loss Goals lead to a Happier, Healthier You?

When did ‘get fit’/'be healthy'/'feel happier' - all become so interwoven in ’lose weight'?

And can we achieve all of our goals without obsessing over counting calories? 

In over 20 years of helping women improve their well-being, it’s rare that a woman tells me her goal has nothing to do with weight, body shape and size. But will this goal set them on the path to happiness, or just a sense of utter defeat?

I’m a firm believer in an holistic approach to health and wellness, where the focus shifts from numbers on a scale to nurturing, positive relationship with your body and embracing sustainable lifestyle habits.

This doesn’t mean that fat loss can’t be an outcome...

But if we stop obsessing over weight loss, how do we achieve our goals?

✨ It's all about mindset: By shifting our focus from weight loss to overall well-being, we cultivate a positive attitude that brings self-love and body acceptance. A more holistic approach means we can celebrate our bodies for what they can do, rather than how it looks.

💃🌱 Sustainable lifestyle changes: Instead of chasing quick fixes or restrictive diets, finding long-term lifestyle changes that boost overall health and vitality. Nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods, finding joy in movement, and prioritising self-care are keys to sustainable well-being.

🏋️‍♀️💪 Building strength and confidence: this approach aims to build strength, both physically and mentally. By focusing on strength training, we empower ourselves to become stronger, more capable, and confident in our abilities. Again, we realise what our bodies can do, rather than just how it looks.

⚖️ Rethinking the definition of success: when we challenge society's narrow definition of success, the specific number on the scale or dress size we redefining success - what about improved energy levels, better mobility, increased self-confidence, and overall well-being? Do these sound appealing? Even, more balanced and fulfilling too?

👭❤️ Creating a supportive community: We're better together.  We were never meant to do it alone after all!  The power of a supportive community uplifts and encourages us. Building a safe and inclusive environment means we can share our victories, challenges, and triumphs and rise up. Working together, we can redefine what it means to 'get healthy'!
